Found this on Amazon the other day. ANGEL WITH ATTITUDE is going to be reprinted with a shiny new cover and here it is! Valerie, Nathaniel and the key to heaven are represented nicely. No talking rat, though.
So this book should be available for purchase again soon with its lovely new packaging! Hooray!
I joined Snippet Saturday a while back but haven’t had a chance to participate until now. The theme this week is “Humor,” so I thought I’d offer up something that’s fairly funny. I think so, anyhow.
This is a sneak peek at a scene from Chapter 5 in THE DEMON IN ME, the first book in my new paranormal series with Berkley Sensation that’s out May 2010. Sure, it’s eight months from now, but that time is totally going to fly by. I just know it!!
Darrak’s an incorporeal demon forced to possess a woman named Eden Riley when his former host is killed. Understandably, Eden isn’t quite on-board with this situation, so she’s called in some local exorcists (whom she found in the Yellow Pages) to lend a hand.
********************
Rosa approached her, staring up into her face. Then she pressed her hands up to Eden’s cheeks and drew her closer until their eyeballs were only a couple inches away from each other. “We must begin immediately. Please sit down.”
Malcolm moved toward the glass door and turned the lock. “Where do you need me, mother?”
“By my side, dear.”
“What’s going on, Eden?” Darrak asked.
She sat down in her comfortable but ratty desk chair and tightly squeezed the arm rests as if was bracing herself for a root canal. “I’m helping you.”
“Helping me?”
“Is the demonic presence speaking to you right now?” Rosa asked.
She nodded. “He is.”
Rosa grabbed her chin and squeezed hard enough to make Eden’s lips purse out unattractively. “Listen to me, demon. This is your last chance. Leave this woman of your own volition while you still can. If you refuse, then we will force you from her body.”
Darrak sighed. “Exorcists? You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“Speak, dark demon!” Rosa hissed, squeezing Eden’s face even tighter. Eden tried her best not to bat the woman’s hands away. “What is your reply?”
Another internal sigh. “Eden, let’s talk about this.”
“I’m rewwy shorry.” Her words were distorted due to her current pursed-lip situation. “But you habben gibben me any udder choice here.”
“So, you what? Called 411 to find the nearest Exorcists ‘R’ Us?”
Eden cleared her throat. “Akshlee, I just rooked in the phone book.”
“I already told you I can’t leave, but it’s not because I don’t want to. Believe me, I want to, but I can’t.”
She swallowed hard. “He says he can’t leave me.”
“Liar!” Rosa snapped, squeezing tighter.
“You can tell this lady to bite me, though,” Darrak added. “And she can take that holier-than-thou attitude of hers and shove it right under her granny panties.”
“Does the demon show fear for my abilities?” Rosa asked.
“Not really,” Eden admitted, though she was finding it increasingly hard to talk while in the forcibly pursed position. Her cheeks began to ache. “You can let go of my face now. Please.”
She finally released Eden, who sighed in relief and rubbed her sore cheeks.
“Right,” Darrak said. “Actually, I’m not afraid because I’ve been faced with a lot of exorcists in the last 300 years. Believe me, there have been a lot of yahoos who think they can get rid of me, but a true exorcist needs to completely believe in demons and the Netherworld—and not very many people do. Their faith needs to be absolute. And they need to use actual holy water—”
“Malcolm, pass me the holy water, please.” Rosa held out her hand.
“Yes, mother.”
Darrak scoffed. “They say it’s holy water, but that could just be from the tap for all we know.”
“What’s this we thing?” Eden said.
“Now, you must repeat after me,” Rosa said. “I, Eden Riley—”
“I, Eden Riley.”
“Commit to ridding my physical being of all things demonic—”
Eden repeated it.
“And renounce evil and all forms of black magic—”
Well, of course. “And renounce evil and all forms of black magic.”
“And all lustful thoughts.”
Eden frowned. “And all lustful thoughts?”
“Lust is a deadly sin. You may have been chosen as a vessel for the demon because of that sinful, cleavage-revealing blouse you’re wearing right now. Shameful, really.”
Eden held a hand to her chest. “I bought this at Sears last week. It’s machine washable!”
“Lust is the most popular deadly sin, followed closely by vanity and greed.” She gently patted Eden’s cheek. “Speaking of money, I should let you know up front that the outstanding thousand dollars on this transaction applies whether or not I am able to dispel this evil spirit from you. It will be applied directly to the credit card number you provided earlier.”
“There’s no money-back guarantee?”
“I’m afraid not. We are working with Satan’s darkest minions, here.”
“Did she just call me a minion?” Darrak grumbled. “Talk about adding insult to potential injury.”

Hope you enjoyed meeting Darrak and Eden! Expect to hear much more about them in the months to come leading up to the release date.
And please be sure to visit the following authors who are all participating in Snippet Saturday this week!
The winner of my Molly Harper contest, who will receive a signed copy of both Tall, Dark & Fangsome and Nice Girls Don’t Date Dead Men is….
Congrats, Jen!! Please email me at michelle@michellerowen.com with your mailing address to claim your prize.
Thank you to everyone else who entered! There will be a few more chances in the next couple of weeks to win a copy of the book. Check back here or my Twitter feed for links to upcoming Q&As as I get them.
Release week has totally interrupted my writing. Which is fine. I can get back to it. Just more proof of how I am sooo not a multi-tasker. Today I get back on Nightshade. I’m still waiting to hit my stride with that book, so that the writing becomes fun and easy. (Wait. That rarely happens? Damn.)
In any case, I’m excited about my new projects and want to cut my distractions (of which there are many) so I can focus on them. I’ll be clearing off my to-do list this week.
I received my copy edits for Demon Princess: Reign Check yesterday. I look forward to diving back into those. I have a week and a half to pull those together so it’s all good. In case you’re dying to know when the second book in this series comes out, it’s slotted for next May. Eight little tiny months from now!
Wanted to share my BookList review for Tall, Dark & Fangsome. I absolutely love this one.
“Life’s been rough for Sarah Dearly. Turned into a vampire, cursed as a nightwalker, and, to add insult to injury, blackmailed by vampire hunter Gideon Chase to break up with her one true love, Thierry, and to save Gideon from hellfire. But there was no way she and Thierry could stay apart, and now she’s in a delicate dance as double agent to thwart Gideon’s desire to become an all-powerful vamp while trying to get him to give her the cure to her curse. Rowen’s series finale is a no-holds-barred culmination of everything that’s made the ride till now so much fun. Sarah’s crack-whip sarcasm is on full display, and Thierry is as broodingly sexy as ever. The juiciest bit is Sarah and Gideon’s relationship, a testament to how seductive the dark side can be and a bittersweet example of how our path is framed not by how good or bad we are, but by the choices we make.” —Nina C. Davis
And a couple other fab reviews….
ParaNormal Romance Reviews says that Fangsome is a “well-crafted and fast-paced finale to the Immortality Bites series.”
Bitten by Books says, “I can’t bear the thought of never seeing the characters again!…Great writing, great story, great characters. Five out of five isn’t a high enough rating for this book or series.”
Enchanted by Books says, “I absolutely adored Tall, Dark & Fangsome and did not want it to end. The writing is engaging, the characters are wonderful, and it was just so much fun to read this book. I have never read a Michelle Rowen book that I did not adore and rave about and there is a reason for that, she writes damn good books!”
I’m so thrilled that this book seems to be hitting the right notes with readers. I did want to do my vampires justice and I’m very relieved that it just might have worked.
I’ll pick a winner in the Molly Harper contest tomorrow at about this time.
Winners for my release day prizes are:
$20 Amazon gift certificate………… comment #46 – LORI SMITH
Full signed set of Immortality Bites novels………comment #72 – FROGGY
Please contact me with your mailing addresses at michelle@michellerowen.com.
Thank you to everyone who entered!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. As I don’t have time to track down winners, if I don’t hear from the above mentioned names by Friday at Midnight, I will pick new ones! Please make sure to check back just in case! Both prizes have been claimed. Thank you again!
Molly Harper and I have never met. We’ve never read each other’s books. We’re basically two authors who don’t have much in common except that we both belong to the League of Reluctant Adults and our brand new vampire releases have remarkably similar covers.
TALL, DARK & FANGSOME is the fifth and final book in my Immortality Bites series. Sarah deals with blackmail from the leader of the vampire hunters, a curse that turns her into a deadly nightwalker (aka: an evil sun-fearing vamp), and a masked vampire vigilante. Sarah has to fight hard if she wants that happily ever after with master vampire Thierry. Will she get it? Stay tuned.
Molly’s new release, NICE GIRLS DON’T DATE DEAD MEN, is the second in the Jane Jameson series. It follows Jane as she helps her friend, Zeb, plan his Titanic-themed wedding to the werewolf Jolene. Zeb’s mom seems intent on breaking up the wedding so Zeb can marry Jane. Her grandmother seems to be dating a geriatric Bluebeard. And her sire/boyfriend, Gabriel, is being deceptive and taking calls from a mysterious woman named Jeanine. With all these complications, Zeb’s nuptials seem as doomed as the gigantic ship.
So we sat down this week to chat about writing, characters, and Hugh Jackman. Enjoy!
MOLLY: You know, the last time I was in a chat room was in college.
MICHELLE: When I was in college, we didn’t have chat rooms. In ancient times the chat rooms were actually rooms. In which we chatted.
MOLLY: Ahh, the innocent preChris Hansen days…
MICHELLE: I hesitate to admit I have no idea who Chris Hansen is.
MOLLY: Chris Hansen is the guy who’s always busting sex predators on Dateline. … Well, there’s no graceful segway after that. Why don’t you tell me a little something about yourself. How did you get started in your vampire writing career?
MICHELLE: Sure. I always wanted to be a writer. But it took me a long time before I realized that in order to be a writer I needed to actually, uh, write. I played with a bunch of beginnings to books, but never had a real plan. It wasn’t until I was in mourning for the cancellation of Buffy, my fave show of all time, that I felt the need to express this on paper. Which is why I originally picked vampires. You?
MOLLY: I was a newspaper reporter. My schedule was crazy and I needed a normal job so I could take care of our little girl. I took a job as a church secretary. I had nights off for the first time ever and all this energy to write! It wasn’t being sucked out of me during my normal three-news story workday. We were living in this horrible apartment while we built our house. Something broke down every night and I was desperate for an outlet. I’ve always love vampire stories. I wanted to create the most embarrassing way to be turned into a vampire ever. Something a vampire would be embarrassed to tell another vampire. So my character is mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead. A handsome fanged fellow happens by and turns her.
MICHELLE: Was she shot by Dick Cheney??
MOLLY: Ha! No, but she meets a vampire named Dick Cheney. Somehow, I thought he would seem all the more evil. But he’s my favorite character. He gets all the good lines.
MICHELLE: My fledgling was turned into a vamp by her blind date from hell. That line seems to best sum up the series quickly, even though it’s only a small part of Sarah’s story.
MOLLY: Aw. That’s so much worse than waking up with herpes.
MICHELLE: I would imagine it is.
MOLLY: So what is your writing schedule like? (Tell me of life writing full-time? Is it beautiful there?)
MICHELLE: It is lovely and temperate here. However, there’s a lot more time for procrastination and internet surfing. When I’m in the midst of writing a first draft, I like to do 15 pages most days. I’m a binge writer. I finish my first draft in six weeks, take two weeks to recoup, then do the second draft in a month. Three months per book.
MOLLY: Whoa. No wonder you write 4 a year! I tip my hat to you, madam. I thought I was doing well writing 1,000 words a day.
MICHELLE: Every day?? I couldn’t write every day. That kind of consistency is just not in me. I’m way too flaky for that.
MOLLY: That’s where newspaper background has come in handy. I wrote every day, whether I was inspired or not. You can’t wait for the muse to strike when an editor is yelling at you.
MICHELLE: But 1000 words a day is a book every three months. Just like me.
MOLLY: Not the way I rewrite. It’s a long painful process. I think DEAD MEN is the most rewrites I’ve ever done on a manuscript. The changes were drastic. And the ending changed at least four or five times.
MICHELLE: My plots are fairly solid after first draft. I’m having a bit more trouble getting deep POV lately since I’ve been writing more third person POVs. I’m most natural in first.
MOLLY: So, how much of “you” is in your character?
MICHELLE: Good question. Originally I would have said a lot. But as the series progressed, Sarah became her own person. We share the same sense of humor, same speech patterns, mostly. In fact, a lot of people I know who read the series say she sounds just like me. Only Sarah’s way hotter and she has gorgeous men after her a bit more than I do. Just a bit.
So, now in your writing, do you find your heroine’s starting to make the rules? Sarah started fighting me on lots of things, especially when it came to her choice in the love triangle I set up for her. She was very stubborn.
MOLLY: Not really, I always had a trajectory in mind for where Jane was headed. My problem is always my secondary characters. I have these wacky fun side characters, and while they’re compelling, they ultimately distract for the story. So they are ruthlessly deleted. Which is why I am adding a character graveyard to my web site to honor all the characters deleted from my original drafts. There’s always at least one that gets the axe.
MICHELLE: Funny. My secondary characters are fairly well behaved, but Sarah’s been a regular PITA for me. Then again, if Sarah had chosen the guy I’d originally picked for her, it would likely have been only one book, not five. So I guess I can’t complain too much. Do you picture any actors in the roles of your characters?
MOLLY: I always picture a “cast” before I start writing. To me, Jane is Jenna Fischer from the Office. Who is Sarah in your head?
MICHELLE: Sandra Bullock. No question. Who’s your hero?
MOLLY: Gabriel is based on Gerard Butler in Dracula 2000, at least appearance-wise. I have no shame.
MOLLY: Nothing as off-putting as a supernatural creature with jazz hands.
MICHELLE: Word.
MOLLY: It’s funny, though, because I used Hugh Jackman as a template for the hero in my non-paranormal romance coming out in summer 2010
MICHELLE: Oooh. New project. Do tell.
MOLLY: The untitled book- I absolutely stink at coming up with titles, it’s a curse- is about a woman who finds out her husband is cheating, so she announces their impending divorce in a DETAILED mass email to family, friends and clients. She’s exiled to a little lakeside cabin, where she meets a crime writer with an unfortunate buttock-related nickname. And he happens to look just like Wolverine, sans the muttonchops, which stirs her closet comic-book movie geek soul.
MICHELLE: Claws?
MOLLY: No claws… hmmm
MICHELLE: I’ve got you thinking about the fabulous claw potential.
MOLLY: Yes, yes, I am.
MICHELLE: Will there be more Nice Girl books?
MOLLY: Right now, I’m contracted for three. Who knows what the future will bring? I think I’ll always be wiling to come back to Jane. So how about you? Any non-vampire related projects forthcoming? (Werewolves? Humans? Mutants?)
MICHELLE: I have a bunch of stuff coming out that’s non-vamp related. A YA series about demons, a paranormal series about demons, a Harlequin Blaze about paranormal investigators. Uh… and right now I’m starting to write an urban fantasy duology about, well, vampires. But it’s dark, not comedic.
MOLLY: Is it difficult for you to turn off the humor? I just can’t seem to do that.
MICHELLE: You know… the humor thing is strange for me. I don’t try to write funny. In fact, I sent my most recent book to my agent thinking it might be a bit dark, and he emailed me commenting on how hilarious it was. I might be paraphrasing, of course. I like to think he said it was hilarious. It’s subject matter, mostly. Lighter, less deadly situations have room for humor. Deadly and dangerous stuff…less so. I always say that the situations my characters are in aren’t all that funny, but the characters themselves are funny. If that makes any sense.
MOLLY: I apparently have no gauge for dark/deadly situations. I just finished a werewolf-based romance set in Alaska. I was all excited when my agent read it, because I thought it was a new, darker territory for me. Not so much. I must have watched too much Brady Bunch growing up.
I feel myself pulling away from going too dark, though. I don’t want to scare people in my Sunday School class. I already feel weird enough that people have “seen inside my head” when it comes to love scenes. Does is it ever weird you out that people you know read your books?
MICHELLE: At least not yet. My books, at least the ones in my vampire series are kind of tame. One of my biggest reader complaints is that I close the door to the bedroom, but to me it suited the series to keep things more on the sweeter side. But I’m not afraid of spicing things up in the right place. I’m curious to see what the reaction will be to my Blaze in November, both from readers and from my family (no bedroom doors are shut in this one!). I always figure, I read mega steamy stuff written by my friends and I’m never shocked and apalled. I’m all “more please!” LOL. So hopefully, sexing things up in my future books won’t freak anyone out too badly.
MOLLY: How do you feel about our books being “cover twins?” And then, to ad insult to injury, they’re both released on August 25. (That’s right people, August 25.)
MICHELLE: I’m fine with it. I loved your first cover. I may have even been a bit jealous. And the simultaneous release date is not an insult in any way. That’s a light vampiric bonanza for readers who want a DOUBLE DOSE OF FUN FUN FUN!
MOLLY: Speaking of which, shall we tell our dear readers what they could win if they leave a comment on our blogs…
MICHELLE: Absolutely. Leave a comment on either (or both) of our blogs. Molly and I are both giving away a signed copy of TALL, DARK & FANGSOME and NICE GIRLS DON’T DATE DEAD MEN to two randomly selected winners. That’s two sets of signed books to two winners, one chosen on each blog. Good luck and happy reading!
To celebrate the release of the fifth and final book in my Immortality Bites series, I’m giving away: 1) a $20 gift certificate to Amazon.com, and 2) a full set of signed books of the 5-book Immortality Bites series. Please comment in order to enter! I’ll pick a winner at midnight EST Wednesday, August 26th. Got any questions for me about Sarah and the series or my future releases? Ask away! And please pull up a virtual bar stool and have a Bloody Mary. On me!
This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end. My only friend, the end!!
A depressing song by The Doors, sure. But it is the end of the road for Sarah Dearly, Thierry de Bennicoeur, George, Amy, Barry and Veronique (although we don’t really care about those last two so much, do we?).
Five books since January 2006. Wow! I’ve gotten the chance to spend mucho time with these characters and helped torture them mercilessly. It’s been so much fun!
Thank you to my readers for making it possible for me to write about them for multiple books.
I really hope you enjoy Tall, Dark & Fangsome. This book was not an easy write (this is an understatement). I’d put Sarah into so much stress in the previous book, Stakes & Stilettos, that the first draft of Fangsome read a bit, well…like Sarah needed a prescription for some vampire Prozac. Seriously. There were a lot of crying scenes. The problem was, I forgot about her optimistic personality. Even in the darkest place, she can find the light. She’s an optimistic (unlike me). That’s what I love about her the most. That’s what Thierry loves about her. And even though she’s made some frustrating and borderline stupid unwise decisions (who says the author controls her characters?), her heart has always been in the right place.
Bitten by Books just posted a wonderful review on the book just in time for the release.
So…when I was writing the first (depressing) draft of this book, I needed to get back to Sarah’s roots and find her light and humor again. So I wrote a scene that never made it into the Fangsome — one where Sarah has a flashback to the “blind date from hell” that got her into this vampiric situation in the first place. Unfortunately, this scene stopped the action in the book so it got the ax. I still think it’s a whole lot of fun.
Why are you ending this series? Will we have more books about Sarah?
Because it’s time. I really felt that any more books would be stretching things since the story arc I began in Bitten & Smitten is pretty much wrapped up in Fangsome. With more books I’d start repeating stuff, and there are really only so many ways to keep a romantic relationship from gelling without it feeling contrived. As it stands right now this is the last time Sarah gets to put on her dancing shoes. But I would never say never if one day a publisher begged me for more about these characters. I’m sure I could come up with something.
Is there finally going to be a really explicit sex scene in Fangsome? Come on, Michelle. What’s up with the sexual tension and not much with the badda bing??
The Immortality Bites series was always meant to have more of a chick-lit feel to it, and as such I chose specifically not to make it explicit from the beginning. It just didn’t feel right. I don’t believe romance books need to be explicit in order to work. Therefore, Fangsome is much like the previous books in this respect. I do feel, however, that the sexual tension between Sarah and Thierry is pretty darn hot and I’ve made sure to focus a lot more on their ‘romance’ in more recent books! HOWEVER, if you’re looking for spicier book, please check out my first Harlequin Blaze, HOT SPELL, that comes out this November. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
But…but…what am I going to read now? OMG! How could you leave me with NO MORE BOOKS BY MICHELLE ROWEN MY FAVORITE AUTHOR TO READ???(I’m paraphrasing, of course)
Don’t worry, I’m definitely not retiring! I have many books lined up to follow my vampires. In fact, I’ve written five books that haven’t even hit the shelves yet. They’re just in varying stages of being published. Next month my first young adult novel, DEMON PRINCESS: REIGN OR SHINE will be released. It’s the first book in a fun new series. And next May I launch my Living in Eden series, a lighter, romantic look at demonic possession.:) The first book’s called THE DEMON IN ME and if you like my vampires, you’ll love my demons. Well, just one demon — Darrak. And he’s funny and sexy and BIG TROUBLE and helps add a major dose of romance and danger to my heroine, Eden’s, boring life.
I’ll let Sarah and Thierry round off this release party out with a short discussion about Tall, Dark & Fangsome.
Thank you SO MUCH, everybody! And happy, happy reading!
The vast, dense forest and murky lake that surround Cairncroft Abbey aren’t the only menacing elements that envelop the estate. For a dark history lies behind its walls-where secrets and evil still linger…
Catherine Weston arrives at Cairncroft Abbey to visit her childhood friend Madeline St. Aubyn whose health seems to deteriorate with each passing day. Even stranger, Madeline appears to grow more nervous whenever she is in the presence of her cousin, Gabriel. But Gabriel has quite a different effect on Catherine-stirring a longing deep within her…
Gabriel St. Aubyn is haunted by the curse that has plagued his family for decades. Living with the constant torment that he too will succumb to it one day, he has resigned himself to a solitary existence.
Don’t let the pretty pink dress on the cover fool you, Eve writes dark, gritty gothics that will addict you like Godiva chocolate with their winding plots, tortured heroines (who likely don’t wear pink dresses) and sexy, dangerous heroes. (aka: the best kind)

THE DARKEST WHISPER by Gena Showalter
New York Times bestselling sensation Gena Showalter returns with her long-awaited next installment of the Lords of the Underworld series…
He is the keeper of Doubt and his entire world’s about to be rocked.
Bound by the demon of doubt, Sabin unintentionally destroys even the most confident of lovers. So the immortal warrior spends his time on the battlefield instead of the bedroom, victory his only concern…until he meets Gwendolyn the Timid. One taste of the beautiful redhead, and he craves more.
Gwen, an immortal herself, always thought she’d fall for a kind human who wouldn’t rouse her darker side. But when Sabin frees her from prison, battling their enemies for the claim to Pandora’s box turns out to be nothing compared to the battle Sabin and Gwen will wage against love…
There’s something about the new guy at Crossroads High…
Most sixteen-year-olds have friends. Aden Stone has four human souls living inside him:
One can time-travel.
One can raise the dead.
One can tell the future.
And one can possess another human.
With no other family and a life spent in and out of institutions, Aden and the souls have become friends. But now, they’re causing him all kinds of trouble.
Like, he’ll blink and suddenly he’s a younger Aden, reliving the past. One wrong move, and he’ll change the future. Or, he’ll walk past a total stranger and know how and when she’s going to die.
He’s so over it. All he wants is peace.
And then he meets a girl who quiets the voices. Well, for as long as he’s with her. Why? Mary Ann Gray is his total opposite. He’s a loner; she has friends. He doesn’t care what anyone thinks; she tries to make everyone happy. And while he attracts the paranormal, she repels it. For her sake, he should stay away. But it’s too late…
Somehow, they share an inexplicable bond of friendship. A bond about to be tested by a werewolf shape-shifter who wants Mary Ann for his own and a vampire princess Aden can’t resist. Two romances, both forbidden. . . doomed. Still, the four will enter a dark underworld of intrigue and danger. . . but not everyone will come out alive. . .
I was lucky enough to read an ARC of this book a couple months ago and it was so great! I love Aden! Gena’s built a big world full of paranormal creatures, teenaged angst, love and friendship that is definitely addictive. If you love YA urban fantasy, you’ll love this book. And it’s only the beginning of a great new series!
I’m over on Cari Quinn’s blog today with a Q&A and I’m giving away a signed copy of TALL, DARK & FANGSOME to a commenter. When’s the release date, again?
Tomorrow?? Holy cow!!
I am planning a Virtual Release Party here on zee blog tomorrow. It might be a bit lower-key than the one I had last time, though. Fewer fictional vampires have been invited to the shindig to keep costs down. They are heavy drinkers, you know.
Wednesday I’m doing a chatty Q&A with Molly Harper here and on her blog since the covers for our light vampire books, both out tomorrow, look like they might have been separated at birth. Let the shenanigans begin!
Thursday, I rest. Or rather, I try to stay on top of my new book. Last week was a total write-off and I hardly got any pages done (like, maybe 12…wahoo). I needed more recovery time from the last book. Who knew? My well was dry. I’m hoping it’s a bit more moist this week. It better be or Michy is not going to be a happy camper.
I am not the only one to have a new release tomorrow, though! I know, it’s hard to believe but OTHER BOOKS are actually scheduled for release on the same day. Hruummphhh. Of all the nerve!!
A bunch of these books are from some of my gorgeous and talented blogmates on the League of Reluctant Adults. Happy release day to you all!
NICE GIRLS DON’T DATE DEAD MEN by Molly Harper
Once a devoted children’s librarian, Jane Jameson now works at a rundown occult bookstore. Once a regular gal, she’s now a vampire. And instead of a bride, she’s an eternal bridesmaid — which leads her to question where exactly her relationship with her irresistibly sexy sire, Gabriel, is headed. Mercurial, enigmatic, apparently commitment-phobic vampires are nothing if not hard to read. While Jane is trying to master undead dating, she is also donning the ugliest bridesmaid’s dress in history at her best friend Zeb’s Titanic-themed wedding. Between a freaked-out groom-to-be, his hostile werewolf in-laws, and Zeb’s mother, hell-bent on seeing Jane walk the aisle with Zeb, Jane’s got the feeling she’s just rearranging the proverbial deck chairs.
Meanwhile, Half Moon Hollow’s own Black Widow, Jane’s Grandma Ruthie, has met her match in her latest fiancé. He smells like bad cheese and has a suspicious history of dead spouses. But Jane’s biting her tongue. After all, would a nice girl really think she has a future with a vampire?
With her partner out of town, her family abroad, and her mentor
estranged, newly-turned vampire Anna Strong is keeping a low profile.
But now young vampires are turning up dead, completely drained of
their life force. And though Anna wants to say no when Williams, her
former teacher and now leader of a supernatural enforcement squad,
asks for her help, she can’t. But soon, she’ll wish she had.
BLOOD PROMISE by Richelle Mead (I finished reading this one yesterday and it is FABULOUS!!!!)
How far will Rose go to keep her promise?
The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir’s Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them … including Dimitri.
He’d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?

BITING THE BULLET by Jennifer Rardin
Book 3 in the Jaz Parks series
(Mass Market release)
I’m Lucille Robinson (aka Jaz Parks).
This is a mission unlike anything my vampire boss, Vayl, and I have ever been on. It’s not our usual take-them-out-and-run; it’s an undercover mission that needs the whole gang: a psychic, an interpreter, and a weapons specialist.
We’ve never gone in which such heavy artillery before, but the more the merrier, right? Um…nope. At least not since Vayl and I learned part of our job is to ferret out a mole concealed in our unit.
To add to our problems, we’re being harried by a pack of reavers bent on revenge, and targeted by a Seer who wants to share Vayl’s power — at any cost. This is going to be a blast.
I can’t tell you how much I love this review from Kirkus. Waiting for reviews, especially ones for my beloved new baby new Demon Princess series, is a fretful thing. It’s sooo wonderful that they really seemed to “get” this book. 42 days till it’s out!! Woo hoo!!!
DEMON PRINCESS: Reign or Shine
“Sixteen-year-old Nikki’s life is straight out of a fairy tale, but she’s no damsel in distress. Just after her birthday, Nikki learns from an attractive stranger named Michael that she is heir to the throne of the Shadowlands, which separate the human realm from the Underworld. Nikki’s father, the Demon King, is dying, and she’s got very little time to decide if she’ll stay in the Shadowlands forever or live as a normal teenager. Nikki knows what everyone else wants her to do, but she ultimately wants to make her own decisions about her future, something every teenager will understand. Although she doesn’t see herself as a superhero, her will to save her threatened loved ones and take control of her own life is nothing short of heroic. The doomed love story between Nikki and Michael combines with action and mystery to entertain any reader who holds a special place in her heart for strong princesses.”—Kirkus Reviews
