30 Days of Demons – (early) Day 19 – ARC time!

***Thanks to everyone for your comments! Some great YA picks there! The randomly selected winner of the signed ARC of REIGN CHECK has been chosen (thanks to random.org) and it is comment #24 – Stacey Monte! Stacey has been contacted by email to claim her prize.***

My last post was not to my liking so I took the video down after a bit of thought. I’ll do another vlog next week when I am feeling a bit less frazzled and am wearing a bit more lip gloss.

To make up for it, I want to give away my very last Advance Reading Copy (ARC) of my May 25th release, the second Demon Princess book, REIGN CHECK, with its original pink cover. When it’s out it’ll have the black cover so this just might be a collector’s item. Maybe? Sort of? Hey, you never know.

Here’s what I want to know — what’s your FAVORITE young adult novel of the past couple of years? I’ll go first: mine’s The Hunger Games. Second place goes to Twilight series. Third place goes to my pal, Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy series. But you only have to name one (bonus points for saying what you like so much about it)! Throw a comment in and you’re in the running. I’ll pick a winner at random from all comments, tomorrow, Wednesday, April 21st at 9:00 p.m. EST.

i may totally be messing up the title but Angus, thongs, and full frontal snoggging. It’s like bridget jones’ diary for the YA set. It is soooo cute! I read the first 4 before i got too old. I was going to say yours but i didn’t want to sway your choice :P

LOL! It’s random so my choice won’t be swayed. I can’t promise the same for anyone who mentions a couple of YA books that I just hated though! ;)

Ooh, but there are so many great YA books.

How about the latest YA’s I’ve loved: Nearly Departed (Rook Hastings) for scaring the crap out of me and The Bone Tiki (David Hair) for being completely original.

My favorite book right now is The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong. I love the first two books in the series too. The Hunger Games is a close second though.

    Oh! The BEST prize ever!!!

My favorite YA book I have read recently…it’s really hard to pick just one, but I’ll have to go with: ICE by Sarah Beth Durst, I feel the journey Cassie undergoes is very similar to that of Odysseus in order for her to be re-united with her true love. And I loved that, plus I just love classic fairy tales and this one will hopefully join in their ranks!

    Thank you!

You hit it dead on–Hunger Games and Catching Fire are the best ones I’ve read recently. Graceling by Kristin Cashore and I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak come in close.

My favorite YA is Richelle Meade’s Vampire Academy series. I picked up the series for something new and different and I wasn’t dissappionted.

What’s not to love about Vampire Academy? Rose is a real bad-ass who’s still finding herself in a world filled with evil. I totally *heart* Dimitri even though right now he’s not so good. Oh Nooos! And Adrian… Wasn’t a fan at first but he’s now a character that I’m very fond of. (I don’t want to give to much away for those who haven’t read it yet.)

Needless to say, besides Twilight, Vampire Academy is my favorite YA series. Richelle really knows how to leave a cliffhanger that has you begging for the next book.

Thanks for the contest Michelle! I would be stoked to win Reigh Check. :)

It’s a toss-up between the MORTAL INSTRUMENTS series by Cassandra Clare and the VAMPIRE ACADEMY series by Richelle Mead. They’re both equally amazing. Forbidden love, action, drama, hot guys and strong, powerful heroines! They both have it all :)

Love the Vampire Academy books by Richelle Mead and the House of Night books by P.C. Cast.

This is a great contest. And the pink cover will totally match my copy of Reign or Shine.

There are so many awesome books I have read that it’s hard to name just one. I absolutely LOVE the Twilight Series, my fav. is Breaking Dawn…I love it because, of course, everything happens in that book, don’t wanna reveal too much for those who haven’t read it, but really, who hasn’t??? I also absolutely LOVE the Vampire Academy Series Rose is totally my hero, I cannot wait to see what happens next…May 18th I cannot wait!!! Rose and Dimitri are totally awesome together. Anyways…there are alot of others, but those are my top two!

you only asked for 1 but im giving 3 anyway

Vampire Academy series by richelle mead is my favourite. i find it easy to get lost in all 4 of the books and all that snarkyness, plus i have a tiny attraction to toned and tanned russian men XD.

followed by shiver by Maggie Stiefavter i just find it to be one of those adoreable tales of young love with small parts desturbing thrown in.

Evernight series for its twists and turns, and evil head mistresses.

It’s nearly impossible to choose a favourite because there are some fabulous books available. Yes Vampire Academy, House of Night and Mortal Instruments (oh and Demon Princess natch!) but I must include Lili St Crow’s Strange Angel’s series. This is quite amazing and I can’t wait for book three to come out in August!

I also want to see where Gena Showalter goes with Intertwined and I’ve very much enjoyed Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz. (and there are so many more on my tbr pile!)

I simply couldn’t resist the blue cover of Reign or Shine, but PINK???? *swoon*

    YA General: Paper Towns
    YA Romance: 20 Boy Summer
YA Fantasy: Finnikin of the Rock
    YA Paranormal: Blood Promise

Anything by Ellen Hopkins. Her style is so different and just draws you in. But Impulse is one of my favs.

Next book I plan to read: The Hunger Games. I’m curious to see how I’ll like it.

(ignore this same comment on the wrong post– brain cramp time.)

There were a lot of good ones but I’d have to go with Eleventh Grade Burns by Heather Brewer. I’d not read her series, and I just loved Vlad. I read a lot of others but I was catching up so they weren’t new books. Melissa Marr’s Wicked Lovely was really awesome too.

My YA faves are exactly the same as yours!
1)I love The Hunger Games trilogy because dystopic fiction is my favorite genre. Suzanne Collins writing in those books had me devouring every word at breakneck speed because I couldn’t stand the suspense! Plus, the tension and affections shared between Katniss, her family, fellow competitors, and of course Gale & Peeta are addictive to read about too.
    2) The Twilight series was the first vampire fiction I ever read. I thought the covers were pretty and so I picked them up on a whim and ended up discovering a crazy paranormal tale about a girl, a vamp, and a werewolf! I am not a paranomal fiction junkie, lol. And I loved how Stephenie Meyer wrote the Cullen’s and how they had made a family despite everything working against that.
    3) First, I adore Richelle Mead’s books! Georgina Kincaid’s series is one of my favorites, but her YA series, Vampire Academy is awesome! The intricate storylines and her brilliant character development make me buy every book as soon as it releases, lol. I’m so excited but also kinda afraid to see what happens in Spirit Bound b/c I just can’t see how Dimitri’s situation can be ok. But I LOVE Adrian! He’s hands-down my favorite sexy guy in the series :P

4&5) ok, I know I should stop at 3 and not get so carried away but two other kick-ass YA series are: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld and
Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan!

    My favorites so far…
    1. Twilight series-whenever I read a question like this, Twilight always jumps to mind. For me, the series was addictive, I really love Edward.
    2. Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine-these are so easy and addictive!

Also HONight, Mortal Instuments, Hearts at Stake series, Shiver/Linger, ok, I’ll stop now.

So hard to choose and so many to choose from, but I would have to say The Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong.

My favorite has been Twilight followed by The Hunger Games. Twilight enticed me back into YA. I really fell in love with the story. The Hunger Games takes one of my guilty pleasures-reality tv, and takes it to the extreme. It’s made me seek out more dystopian fiction.

There’s just wayyyyy too many! I’ll choose a few:

Hunger Games – 100% Team Peeta! Her writing is so good and enticing. Action? Romance? Oh yeah!

    Harry Potter – Obvious reasons

VA series – Tragic romance, vampires, and fighting. What’s not to like?

Just Listen (or anything by Sarah Dessen) – her stories are so cute and real. Love them all.
