UK release of Bitten & Smitten – WIN a signed copy!

***Thanks to everyone who commented! I’ve chosen a winner and it is #27 – Donna S. Donna has been contacted via email to claim her prize***

Four and a half years ago, my first book was published. Wow, was it really that long ago?

Yes, BITTEN & SMITTEN, the tale of a woman who went on a blind date with a vampire, got bitten, ran for her life and bumped into a suicidal master vampire, got smitten — and, uh, etcetera.

Today is the release date for the UK release of BITTEN & SMITTEN. The next two books in the series will follow in August and September. Yes, Sarah’s been given a British accent (well, not really, but I like to think so), which is only fitting since my original pitch for the book was “Bridget Jones meets Interview with the Vampire.”

I’d like to give away a signed copy of the new version — trade paperback size with a very classy cover. Sarah looks like she wants to be taken seriously! Gorgeous cover, I really like it.

If you’re interested in winning a free signed copy of the UK release of BITTEN & SMITTEN, please comment here (and if you’re reading this on a mirrored site, please come to michellerowen.com/blog to comment) about this subject:

What would be your favorite or least favorite part about being a vampire?

I’ll pick a winner Friday, July 16th at 9:00 p.m. EST. International entries welcome! Good luck!

Update: I forgot I’m at a convention this weekend so that deadline might change to Sunday at 9:00 p.m. if I’m not getting good internet access….

Ooohhhh – I live in London – soooo fab to see more of your books available here. I was lucky enough to meet you at the Orlando RT – at the wee ‘intimate’ party with a lot of your colleagues and those of us acquainted with Charlaine Harris. And (no worries) I KNOW you’ll not remember who I am – especially in light of the thousands you’ve met since then (wink). Anywho – here’s fingers crossed.

Oooh, I love that cover! My favorite part about being a vampire would have to be never worrying about that pesky diet ever again! And my least favorite part would have to be saying goodbye to those I love when their time comes.

    Thank you!

Woo hoo! Great book. Just read this a few weeks ago and absolutely adored it. Love your voice and sense of humor.

Hmmm…what would my favorite/least favorite thing about being a vamp be? Well, for fav, I’d have to go with the whole never gets old bit. I’d thoroughly enjoy knowing my butt would never sag and that I’d never have to purchase wrinkle cream.

Least fav thing would have to be the liquid diet.

I think it would be easy to give my favorite parts of being a vampire, but I’m going to go for my least favorite. I’m not sure I’d want to live through an eternity without seeing another sunrise. It’s one of the most beautiful things this world has to offer.

    Hi Michelle! Great Cover!

Well everyone Vampires these days are different so it depends on who Vampires your talking about, lol! The not getting older would be great. And the not having to sleep would rock! Imagine all the stuff you could get done if you didnt have to sleep. And the best would be no watching your weight! The worst thing would be not being with your family and loved ones. That is the only bad thing I can think of, lol!

Wow, I’d love to read this! Do you know if the rights have been sold to Brazil yet? :)

Well, I think the wbest part of being a vampire would be the kickass strength, and all the time… with eternity, there’s time to read as many books as we want! :D
The sucky bit would be to have to say goodbye to everyone we love when they die, and we go on…

I think my favorite part of being a vamp would be the super abilities (strength, hearing, speed), and the worst would be accidentally biting my tongue. =)

My favorite thing would be… well I can’t really think of anything… being a vampire doesn’t really sound like fun. lol.

I would just love being a vampire if it meant I didn’t have to deal with that time of month again. Seriously. People think I’m joking. I would also love the heightened reflexes and to not be a clutz anymore!

    The cover is gorgeous!

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out since your name was on the front cover of Michelle Read’s Succubus Blues!

Hmm, the best part about being a vampire would have to be the fangs. Nothing like a serious set of canines.

The worst part would be that the diet would suck! Literally.

Positive- I would be quite happy as one of Lyndsay Sand’s Vampires, looking so good surrounded by hot men and always healthy.

Negative- Keeping dates straight. Can you imagine a trip to your Vamp Doc for a checkup. Have you ever had a rash? Yes, I think it was back in the 1300’s I had a little itch.

I really enjoy your books Michelle! My favorite part about being a vampire would be the heightened senses and memory I love love love to read and WOW to remember EVERYTHING would be so exciting! My least favorite part would be not being able to walk in the sun I think I would really miss the sunset but it sure wouldn’t deter me because the lure of infinite knowledge would certainly override missing the sun.

Immortality and not ever aging again. That would be good. I guess unless you were turned when you were really old who would want to remember how you once looked forever…

Immortality and living through history are great. The blood diet though, not so much. What about the barbecues at the beach? Would I have to give them up, too? Saying goodbye to the ones I love over and over again would be a trial, but at least I will remember them, I hope.

    Cool cover! Dramatic but understated.

It REALLY depends on what vampire universe I got thrown in. i.e.: Whedonverse, Rowenverse, Riceverse.

In general, I’d say the best part would be the self-confidence boost. I think that as part of the undead, in whichever universe, I’d find a definite boost just for being something unique. Maybe I’d be the same person, or maybe I’d have the chance to be someone completely different. If I wound up surviving a few centuries or longer, I’d totally have the chance to try out as many personalities as I wanted.

Being immortal would be pretty fantastic. I’m sure I’d get bored of it after awhile, but right now it sounds pretty fun.

I’d hate having to stay away from my family (it seems pretty impossible to me that I would be allowed to be around them.) Having to deal with the dreaded vampire hunters would have to suck too.

    love the cover, one word:SWWWEEEEETTTTT!
my favorite thing about being a vampire would probably be the whole always staying young, sexy, and invincible but I’d hate to watch the world change, leave family and friends, move all the time to stop suspicion, and keep up with the world! (I fear Id become a bit of a hermit!) xox

I haven’t read the book yet but the cover is telling me to read it and make it snappy! um, my least favorite thing about being a vampire would be watching everything I love age and die, and people that know my secret become bitter and hateful about me, or try to BECOME a vampyre! thank you for the opportunity! xox Z

I love Interview with a Vampire, one of my favourite vampire books and movies.

The least favorite would be out living my loved ones and being alone. Never getting to feel the sunlight again. And never being able to have a kid, that’d be so sad…

My favorite part about being a vampire would be staying young forever and never dying. Plus getting to see everything the world will be in a few decades, if the whole 2012 thing actually happens. And if I did turn into a vampire, I’d wanna be my family’s guardian and protect them, only letting them die of natural causes.

Hi Michelle! Big, Fabulous Congrats to You!! The cover is beautiful and sexy. I wonder why they always change the covers from what they are here in the US…
    As to your contest question…
I would Hate to say goodbye to everyone I love unless of course they wanted to be changed, then that wouldn’t be a problem. :)
As to what I would love, time to see the whole world at my leisure and what another commentor said before would be the best, NO More Periods! That would sooo rock. :)
Thanks for a awesome contest and Congrats again!!
