Please contact me at michelle@michellerowen.com to claim your prizes! Congrats! ***
Hey, it’s October 5th!! That means that it’s the official release day for SOMETHING WICKED. This book holds the honor of being my fave book I’ve written to date with my absolute fave cover! (Isn’t Darrak/male-model-dude a cutie??)
PAR-TAY!!!!!
Being a little wicked isn’t all bad…
Every woman has a sexy demon inside her just waiting to get out, but for Eden Riley it’s a little different. Her inner demon is named Darrak, and he’s been inhabiting bodies for the past 300 years. In the daytime, thanks to her special psychic energy, he’s able to take physical shape—a shape she wouldn’t mind getting her hands on, if it wasn’t a threat to her immortal soul…
Because of her possession, Eden now has uncontrollable black magic at her fingertips, and she and Darrak are trying to end the curse that binds them before the situation gets any worse. To do it, they’ll have to get tangled up with some unsavory characters from the underworld. When sparks and spells fly, they could get the distance they need…or each have their own private hell to pay.
The first three chapters are available here on my website!
This is my twelfth published book. 12. TWELVE. I seriously can’t believe it.
To celebrate, I’m going to give away THREE WICKED PRIZES. And they’re all the same. Three $20 electronic gift certificates to your online bookseller of choice (ie: Amazon, B&N, Borders). If they have e-gift certs, then they are wickedly cool with me!
How do you qualify? JOIN THE WICKED VIRTUAL PARTY! Put on a pair of virtual devil horns. Sparkly ones, of course. Have some virtual fruit punch (spiked for all those of drinking age who wish to get virtually sloshed). Hang out at the virtual chocolate fountain. Virtual yum!
Are we having fun yet???
Leave a comment here on the blog — if you’re viewing a mirror of this, please visit www.michellerowen.com/blog to comment on the original post. And riddle me this:
What’s your ONE favorite fantasy/paranormal book OF ALL TIME. And why did you like it so much?
And, no, there won’t be any bonus points given if that book just happens to be one of mine. Really. I’m not needy like that. Much. All right, I’m extremely needy like that. So let’s just make a rule that it has to be a book that is NOT by yours truly. Something else by someone else. Etcetera.
I’ll go first… uh, my favorite fantasy/paranormal book of all time is KISS OF SHADOWS by Laurell K. Hamilton because it led me to modern paranormal fiction and helped me decide that was the genre I wanted to focus on writing. And it’s also one of the very few books I’ve ever read more than once.
I’ll pick my three winners AT RANDOM on Friday, October 8th at 9:00 p.m. EST. Since this is all electronic and online, international entries are definitely welcome!
So, SOMETHING WICKED. Rah! I’m very excited about this release. I LOVE writing about Darrak and Eden and get to do it again for the third Living in Eden book about Darrak and Eden, THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC, which will be out next year. And which I haven’t quite started writing yet. But I will. Soon. Very soon.
And if you plan to read SOMETHING WICKED, thank you very much! I really hope that you enjoy it!
Happy reading!

I can’t wait until I get off work today so I can go buy this book! It’s finally here!!!!! Thanks Michelle for being such a fantastic writer and looking forward to many more books to come!!!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Congrats! And Happy Release Day! ::virtually sipping vodka:: Looking forward to catching up with Eden and Darrak:)
Ummm, so many great paranormal books….right now I am reading Angela Knight’s Warlord…and WOW!

That’s a tough question – I don’t know if I can pick just one! Let me think while I have a tall glass of the tasty fruit punch… Well, if I have to narrow it down to just one, I’d have to say Guilty Pleasure by Laurell K. Hamilton. The reason I liked it so much is it turned me on to her as an author, and especially to her Anita Blake series, which is probably my favorite. I almost didn’t read it, because the main character is a vampire hunter and I’m on the vampire’s side! Then a friend gave it to me for my birthday one year and promised I’d love it – and he was right!

Hi Michelle!
Congratulations on your Release Day!
Twelve Published Books is a great accomplishment.
I can’t pick my all-time-fav fantasy book. It’s like picking which of my kids I love best. If I had to save one thing in a fire (other than my kids)it would be my whole bookcase.
All the best,
Rob
PS – Do not enter me in contest.

YUM! Loving the chocolate fountain!
I’m going to have to go with Guilty Pleasure by Hamilton being my favorite, mostly because it got me invested in the genre and I’m eternally in it’s debt for that!!!
Congrats on release #12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the release. I will definitely be reading the book. I loved The Demon in Me and can’t wait to read more in the story.
My favorite paranormal/fantasy book of all time . . . It’s impossible to narrow it down, plus I read so many series and do not necessarily have a favorite in the series but love the series as a whole more than any one book. But if I have to pick I would choose Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I know, its not an adult book, but it is fantasy, and it was the book series that really hooked me on fantasy novels. And I love Order of the Phoenix because of the relationship between Harry and Sirius, and the duel between the deatheaters and members of DA and the order.

Happy release day, and congratulations on your 12th book! That’s amazing!
My favorite all-time paranormal book would have to be Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson. 1) Because I’m nostalgic, as this was the first in the genre that I read. 2) Everything about it was super: super funny, super sexy, super witty, etc.
Comment
Congrats! I can’t wait to read this. The book that started me on my paranormal romance journey was Karen Marie Moning’s Kiss Of The Highlander

Hi Michelle! Congrats on the new release. I am so excited to read this book! I loved The Demon In Me and cant wait to catch up with Darrak and Eden. As for picking a favorite, I cant do it! lol! Its like picking a favorite child. I love them all differently, but the same. If that makes any sense, lol! I cant wait to pick the new book up. Congrats again! Have a wonderful release day!!!

Happy release day!! An massive congrats on it being book number 12, that’s awesome!!
Pretty hard to choose, but my all time favourite paranormal book has to be Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. It’s the first UF book I picked up, graduating from watching Buffy, and I adored it. It got me completely hooked on the genre and despite it being several years since I first read it, I still pick it up, reread it in full or just my favourite bits and love it just as much as the first time around.
Comment
Congrats on your release. I am excited to read this because I love your adult writing (YA too, but you write good adults-lol) Twelve published books- that is awesome. congrats.
I have to say that one of my favorite paranormals is Once Bitten, Twice Shy by J. Rardin. This was one of the first of the first paranormal I read and not only did it get me hooked, it set the bar really high. (she will be missed.)

Happy release day Michelle,
congratulation on your 12th book, its quite an achievement! I have to admit I adore several types of series of paranormal books. However my favorite would be J.R Ward Lover Eternal. The story was quite wonderful to read Rhage has his own demons although he looks beatiful and Mary Luce was average but held a beauty within that was able to get Rhage to fall in love with her and accept her and she did with him. Thus making the reader feel the unconditional love they shared for one another.
Comment
Happy release day! That guy in the cover of Something Wicked looks absolutely… yummy! XD And I’d go hang out in the virtual chocolate fountain, thank you very much!
My favorite paranormal book has got to be the second book off J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Lover Eternal. I just love Rhage! I owe the series so much since its what made me love the paranormal genre.
Comment
Happy release day, Michelle! I loved The Demon In Me so I’m so excited to read Something Wicked! And I agree…HAWT cover! As far as twelve published books, WOW. I still remember the day I finished my first Michelle Rowen and was so happy to see she had more books out there for me to gobble up.
Hmm, favorite paranormal book is Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost. I’ve read it four times. And Bones? ‘Nuff said.
Don’t enter me in the contest, btw, just wanted to send my congrats!
Comment
P.S. Even if you JUST CAN’T PICK a book (I know…there’s so many good ones!), you’re still entered in the draw (unless you say you don’t want to be). Thanks for the comments so far!
Comment
My favorite paranormal book would have to be Ill Wind. (It’s a bit more fantasy, but still)
Rachel Caine is amazing and her stories are better. I just LOVE those books. I don’t think she can write anything bad.
Congrats on the release, Michelle!!!!
Comment
Michelle,
I really have enjoyed the book Witchling by Yamsmine Galenorn. I loved the humor the twists and turns the D’artigo sisters and their friends. This book was enjoyable from cover to cover.
Also The Demon in Me by you was just great I couldn’t put it down.Already put Something Wicked on my Kindle.
Comment
Congrats Michelle! I always love your virtual release parties! Although, I have to say, those Demons seem to be hogging all the chocolate fountain!
Like most others here, it is extremely difficult to pick a fave! Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong was one of my first introductions to the genre and I was most certainly hooked after that! I also really love Kim Harrison’s books. She takes a slightly different approach in her world and I absolutely love connecting with her characters.
Comment
Can’t wait to read this! It’s next on my TBR pile!!!
Comment
Happy release party!! The punch is FANTASTIC and aren’t my horns super cute? ;-P
One of my favorite Fantasy/Paranormal series is the Undead series by Mary Janice Davison. It’s funny, which I love to read, but it also has a sexy side.

Wow Michelle, congrats on having your 12th book published! That must be super exciting!!
My favorite paranormal novel would have to be Kiss of Darkness by Heather Graham. I like this book so much because it was the first one by Heather Graham that got me hooked on her books! I now own about 5 of her books and I love them all!
Have a great rest of the week!

Michelle,
Congrats on your 12th book.
I don’t know whether this totally qualifies but I just finished Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich and it was absolutely hysterical. It has some paranormal elements in it.
Comment
I love KISS OF SHADOWS too
Well, the entire series actually.
MY FAVORITE PNR series is without a doubt Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark. I love the snarky, strong, and funny heroines, and the HOT HEROES. It’s a perfect blend of valkyries and witches and kobolds and all kinds of mythical creatures, and some really incredibly hot smexy smokin scenes.
I just finished The Demon In Me and cannot wait to read Something Wicked!
Comment
Contrats Michelle!! I can’t wait to read it! I know it will be amazing just like all of your other books.
Comment
My very favorite is the entire Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. My favorite book out of the series is probably book 4, Dead to the World. And you know it’s because there is a lot of Eric in that book!! I also of course love every one of your books. They’re amazing!!
Comment
First off, congrats on book No. 12!
It’s a hard call on the favorite. I really adored Richelle Mead’s Blood Promise. It’s the fourth book in her YA Vampire Academy series — but the subject matter is dark, and the emotional intensity of overwhelming.
If I have to pick an adult title, I’m going with Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris — but mostly for the shower scene between Sookie and Eric Northman.
Comment
Congratulations! (but crap! Now I have to go to the store today & I was gonna be good & stay home & clean) It’s REALLY hard to narrow it down to just one book (or even author for that matter)! I’ve reread all the Anita Blake & Black Dagger Brotherhood books a dozen or more times, but I’m gonna have to go with “Lover Awakened”.. I love Z!
Comment
Hi Michelle. Congrats on your new release. Sounds awesome. I would say Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Such an amazing hero and powerful story.
Comment
Woohoo! Congrats on your new release and having such a hot cover!
The series that got me reading paranormal romance is Jayne Castle’s Harmony series although I read lots of non-romance paranormals over the years.
Comment
Congrats on your new release!
My favorite paranormal is Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night by Kresley Cole. I just have a soft spot for the hero, Bowen. He is such a passionate alpha-male that I loved reading about him falling in love with Mariketa.
Comment
Cool party, congrats on the release^^
My favorite paranormal/fantasy book would be Moon Called by Patricia Briggs, because I was very sceptical when starting the book and head over heels in love with it by the end – it totaly surprised me. I opened up more to the genre then and discovered lots of other great books I might not have otherwise.
Comment
Congrats Michelle on your twelth book! *sips a glass of spiked punch* (I’m 26, I swear!)
Can’t wait to read it. I’ve been hooked and a fan since I found the query letter you wrote for Bitten and Smitten. Now, I’m a foreverfan.
That being said, my favourite paranormal series. It’s a toss between the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon and the Fever series by Karen marie Moning.
Both those ladies have quite a way of pulling their readers in, leaving them drooling for some more dark…meat.
Congrats again, thanks for the drink and I’ll see you around soon!

*Puts on devil horns. Throws glitter in the air to catch on said horns. Grabs a glass and raises it towards Michelle with a “Congrats!”*
And I’m going to say Twilight by Stephenie Meyer because its what first got me hooked on paranormal romance
Comment
Fav Paranormal/Fantasy has to be (right now anyways) The Sookie Stackhouse Series. You get every kind of supernatural being there. Vamps, Weres, Fairies and shifters!!! Fun stuff!!!!
Comment
Whoo congratulations on your twelth release [:
My favourite paranormal series has to be Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. From the moment i started reading the series i fell in love with it. I enjoy reading the strong bond between Rose and Lisa however i also love how Richelle has portrayed Rose as a strong independant female rather that a female character who depends on other people. Rose is her own person and kicks strigoi ass. You can;t help fall in love with Dimitri and his strong, secretive persona. The emotions and themes than run through the novel are immense and make you love the series all that bit more.
Comment
Grats on release day & your 12th book!
I don’t really have a favorite paranormal book. But I do like Kim Harrison’s Hollows series. And there’s another series I really liked about some werewolves but I don’t remember who wrote them.
Comment
I’m just here for the virtual food. Just kidding. Happy Release Day, my friend. You are all up in my Kindle as we speak.
Comment
Happy Release Day!! I cant wait to pick it up. I seriously can not pick one favorite. There are way too many that I love. But I can tell you what really got me started on more modern paranormals was Michelle Bardsley, MJ Davidson and everyones favorite Sarah Dearly books. I picked all of them up at random at Borders one day and was immediately hooked.
Comment
Wheres the virtual Margaritas?
CONGRATS on your 12th published book… thats really something!
Lots of luck with the new book!!!!
Tough question because I have so MANY favorites. Im going to say at this moment my two favorite SERIES are, Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series, and, the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. I love a spunky female character with lots of backbone and the ability to take care of herself.
Comment
Just went and picked up my copy!! Can’t wait to get settled in for the night and read. Congrats on your 12th book release! *raises virtual glass* Here’s to many more!
Comment
Happy Release Day!!! Can’t wait to get to the bookstore & pick up Something Wicked & Meljean’s Iron Duke!
My fave UF book of all time…gahhh so hard to choose! I’d say Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews
Comment
It’s so hard to pick a favorite paranormal book, I’ve read so many that I loved. If I have to choose just one, I’ll pick Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost because that book just had it all for me – a fabulous, kick-ass heroine and a sexy, dangerous hero, with lots of action and great secondary characters too.
I enjoyed The Demon in Me and I’m looking forward to reading Something Wicked to see what’s next for Eden and Darrak.
Comment
My favourite paranormal book probably is Lover Eternal by JR Ward. It was one of the first paranormal series I read and I still re-read it from time to time!
Comment
Congrats on the release! Looks sooo good!! My favorite book is Twilight! It got me back into reading YA and now it’s my favorite genre.
Comment
OH MY GOD!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Darrak and Eden! I cannot wait to get my hands on my copy. It will be amazing I know.
I don’t think I could ever pick a favorite.
Comment
I can’t pick my favorite of all time! Too hard! How about for just this year? If so, its definitely Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. I just loved the characters and the way the story flowed. And I didn’t want to put it down!
Comment
Yayayayayayayay!!! Congrats on the release =)
Hmmm. Gena Showalter’s books are amazing and I adore her.
Comment
I’m raising my virtual glass to you. Congratulations!
My favorite book is Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs by Molly Harper because it was my introduction to the genre.
Comment
Congrats on 12 books! That’s amazing! I cant wait to read Something Wicked. I’ve ordered my copy
My favorite UF/Paranormal book? My, that is an extremely hard question. Hmmm..for Urban Fantasy my favorite is the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning.
For PNR, I’m torn between BDB by JR Ward and the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost.
Also, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead is absolutely amazing, and it’s YA.
So.. I know that’s really three answers but choosing one is just impossible!
Comment
Congrats Michelle! I know this book will be just as great as all the others! I’m so excited!!!
And it’s sooooo hard to pick just one. I’m hooked on so mzny authors! But if I had to, I’d pick Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost- the relationship between Bones and Cat has always been one of my favorites
Comment
What’s your ONE favorite fantasy/paranormal book OF ALL TIME. And why did you like it so much?
Since I’m not allowed to pick The Demon in me I have to pick Zombie Moon (Silhouette Nocturne)by Lori Devoti. I was getting tired of hearing about vampires all the time. This book breaks zombie rules 101 but I loved it. It was a fresh look at them. I have only picked up reading again in the last year and this was a fun book. Do you know how hard it is to find a romance novel with zombie’s in it?
Comment
I love your books:) I have to say though that my favorite paranormal book is the second of Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series, One Foot in the Grave. I’ve read it 3 or 4 times now.It was really my paranormal/urban fantasy series. I love the humor, the romance– basically everything about it. She has a way of making you laugh one minute and then yanking your heart out of your chest the next.
Comment
So excited about the book! I love all of your previous books so I am sure I will enjoy it. Congrats Michelle!! XOXO
Comment
My favorite is Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Acheron because I started paranormal romance through her Dark Hunters series and Acheron was a character I fell in love with.
Comment
My fav would hav to be Maryjanice Davidsons Undead and unwed. I love that series. I think its because the main character besty just says what ever pops into her head. This is something I can never do.
Comment
Congrats on book #12!
This is such a hard question! I guess I’m going to have to say Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews. I love that Kate is tough as nails but has a growing soft spot for her ever growing “family”. And Curran-well yum yum. How does it get any better?
Comment
Yay! Have got to put this down on the to get list.
Favorite of all time–Dark Desires After Dusk by Kresley Cole. OMG–I just love Cadeon in that book–definitely a demon I’d like to have LOL
Comment
My Fav. book of that genre of all time would be…….. The dragon riders of Pern series.
That would have to be one of the first fantasy series that I began reading wholeheartedly in jr. high. I remember my first book in the series that I got was a battered Dragonsong book from the giveaway box at our library. Then I was hooked. So Anne McCaffrey.
Once her son took over, not as much as Anne though.
Comment
I guess it would be the Kate Daniel’s series. Something about Kate draws me in and I love her. Curran is kind of nice to read too
Comment
Quite a lot of the books mentioned are favorites of mine, but my absolute fav would be the Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop. I love her other books as well, but the BJ trilogy were some of the first English books I picked up. I’d only read the prologue online, hadn’t ever heard of her before and those books just sucked me in. She’s an autobuy for me now, but that first read will always have a special place in my heart.
Comment
Kelly Meding’s Three Days to Dead. The book was fun from start to end with fantastic action scenes and intensity. I could definitely tell the author enjoyed writing the book. Sacrifice by Dakota Banks is very very good as well.
Comment
Congrats ^^…Can’t wait to read this, love the cover.
My favorite book is Jocelynn Drake’s Nightwalker. The world and the fellings of Mira is palpable.
Kisses from Brazil’s fans for you =D
Comment
I love Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews. I love the worldbuilding, the characters and the plot. Its entertaining and at the same time it keeps me guessing what happens next to my favorite characters.
Comment
Today is my birthday. What a great present I got from my nanna aka June Whyte. “Demon in Me,” looking forward reading it.
Comment
A dozen, way to get published!
Hats off by me to Stephenie Meyer for sucking me back into the genre of escapist fiction. Pun not unintended! Kudos to The Women (and men) of the Otherworld and that amazing witch who lives in The Hollows for grabbing a hold of me and refusing to let me go.
Of course I haven’t gotten much knitting done this last year but oh, the stories I’ve read…
Comment
Looooved The Demon in Me. Can’t wait to read Something Wicked! My fave fantasy novel of all time is Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman — not a romance but so good!
Comment
I would have to pick “Night’s Kiss” by Amanda Ashley. It was the first paranormal book that I ever picked and totally hooked me on the genre. I still remember the story so vividly and am so grateful I branched out b/c now paranormals are my fave books!! (And I totaly love all your books too!) Thanks for the amazing contest!
Comment
Michelle,
I love your books and cannot wait to read this one!!! Keep up the FANTASTIC work!
Comment
Since we can’t pick your books (Bitten & Smitten or Fanged & Fabulous would win)….Single White Vampire by Lynsay Sands. It was a really cute laugh-out loud vampire tale.
Comment
Congrats on “Something Wicked!” I bought it the first day it came out and it’s in my TBR, impatiently waiting to be read. As of this moment, my favorite PNR is “Double Cross” by Carolyn Crane. The last 50 pages had me hyperventilating. It’s the middle child of the trilogy so naturally it was moody and full of drama. I highly recommend it and the first in the series, “Mind Games.”
Comment
Congrats on the release!
Favorite book. There are so many. Love Vicki Pettersson and Jeaniene Frost and Jeannie Holmes but I think my most favorite single book is probably Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews. For now. But there are so many more books to read!
Comment
Oh, Michele…you know I have so many friends writing in the genre so my favorite is always the one I am reading now. LOL! Congrats on the new release.
Comment
Honestly, you’re the only paranormal author I truly love. (And I’m not saying that for brownie points – it’s true!)
Though, does Harry Potter count in the fantasy category? Because I used to be seriously obessed with those books.
If I had to choose a second favourite paranormal author/book, I guess I’d choose the Twilight series. Edward is pretty sexy!
Can’t wait to read the new book! I’m going to buy it for my Kobo and read it on vacation next week!
Comment
Wow! Quite the party going on over here, Michelle!
Happy release day-I can’t wait to pick it up, sounds like a great way to start off the long weekend.
I haven’t read many fantasy/paranormal books, but hopefully I can soon. I did love Twilight, but I’m looking forward to branching out even further.
Congrats again!
Comment
YAY!! Congrats!! I’m so excited for this release. I’m going out this weekend pick it up. Plus…the cover. Hello! Probably your yummiest yet.
As for my favorite Paranormal…I have way too many to pick just one, but fantasy is a new genre that I’m just getting in to.
My favorites so far are Finnikin of the Rock and The Demon King. LOVED them. Male protag, kick ass heroines, lots of action, lots of secrets, an undercurrent of politics, a little bit of magic and LOTS of YA-suitable sexual tension.

Hey Michelle!
Probably my favorite paranormal book of all time is Interview With a Vampire. I read it as a kid, I was probably 11 or 12 and it left a lifelong impression on me. Now here I am at 37 years of age and it has been amazing to see how paranormal fiction has evolved through the years!
